Job Description

Adaugeo Healthcare is seeking an experienced Clinic Billing and Coding Manager to join our team! This management position is responsible for directing and coordinating the overall functions of the clinic billing and coding operations to ensure maximization of cash flow while improving patient, physician, and other customer relations. Requires strong managerial, leadership, and business office skills, including critical thinking and the ability to produce and present detailed billing activity reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees the operations of the clinic billing group, encompassing medical coding and charge entry (for
    applicable locations), claims submissions, payment posting, accounts receivable follow-up, and
    reimbursement management.
  • Serves as the practice expert and go to person for all coding and billing processes.
  • Prepares and analyzes accounts receivable reports, monthly and quarterly financial reports, and other
    statistical reporting.
  • Audits current procedures to monitor and improve efficiency of billing and collections operations.
  • Ensures that the activities of the billing operations are conducted in a manner that is consistent with
    overall department protocol, and are in compliance with Federal, State, and payer regulations,
    guidelines, and requirements.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all health information management issues such as HIPAA and all
    health regulations.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of operating policies and procedures.
  • Reviews and interprets operational data to assess need for procedural revisions and enhancements;
    participates in the design and implementation of specific systems to enhance revenue and operating
    efficiency.
  • Analyzes trends impacting charges, coding, collection, and accounts receivable and take appropriate
    action to realign staff and revise policies and procedures.
  • Keeps up to date with carrier rule changes and distributes the information within the billing department
    and to clinic administration.
  • Maintains billing software files and configurations.
  • Maintains performance standards of supervised employees including performance evaluations,
    discipline, training and development.
  • Provides, oversees, and/or coordinates the provision of training for new and existing billing staff on
    applicable operating policies, protocols, systems and procedures, standards, and techniques.
  • Coordinates team member time off in a manner that does not negatively impact necessary daily
    functions.
  • Meets billing operational standards by contributing billing information to strategic plans and reviews;
    implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems;
    identifying billing system improvements.
  • Works with supervisors and other managers to facilitate cross-training and ensure inter-departmental
    communication and cohesion.
  • Involved with current and future centralization of other clinic duties, including, but not limited to:
    Scheduling, referrals, prior authorizations, document imaging, medical records, fax folder assignments,
    etc.
  • Perform other work related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in business administration or related field is preferred
  • Certified coder is a plus
  • Minimum of five (5) years Medical Insurance/Healthcare Billing and Collections experience in a medical
    practice or health system, with a deep understanding of medical billing rules and regulations
  • Two (2) years supervisory or management experience preferred
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered

General Physical Requirements

Physical Demands: Manual dexterity for office machine operation including computer and calculator; stooping, bending to handle files and supplies, sitting for extended periods of time. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently life and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally life and/or move up to 50 pounds. Stress can be triggered by multiple staff demands and deadlines.

 

Work Environment: Work is performed in an office environment. Involves frequent contact with staff.
